TSCM ~ St Paddy's Day Marc Issue 2017

Oh, the Luck of the Irish... and the BLESSINGS of the Lord! Wearing of the Green!

March is the time of the year that seems to be contradictory of itself. As an example... one day is hot and summery and the very next day it is cloudy, windy, and icy cold. We don’t know how to properly dress for the season, because it changes so rapidly.

And these sudden climate changes may result in colds, the flu, and allergies. I believe March to be that moment in time that we know we are leaving behind winter ^me blues and heading toward springtime enchantment.

In mid-February in Central Texas the weather had gone from high 81 degrees with blue sky and sunshine to the next day 43 degrees, windy, cold and really wet.

It wasn’t too long before I watched out the window as the dark storm clouds came across the skies. Those clouds seemed to target only a small portion of the landscape, and mostly the Central corridor of I-35 from Dallas to Houston. It swept across the fields with furious waves. There were tornado alerts broadcasted every few minutes.

Yet, for the very first time my life living in Texas, I was calm and peaceful. What surprised me was that fact that at any given moment it could become a nightmare, yet ... I was calm. This in itself was a victory, because I have always been deeply afraid of weather changes... No manner what part of the country I am in.

I want to say that I had that ‘peace’ that Jesus talks about...’ peace in the midst of the storm’ Paul said, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7...

Well, I can tell you folks, I sure didn’t understand myself. But, I had that assurance and that deep feeling, “I was going to be okay and safe that night.” The next day the weather cleared out, I went outside and looked up at the trees. They were budding into bright green new leaves... And the birds were singing and flying through the air. It was inspiring, emotional and downright beautiful. I felt lifted and alive. The winter blues had passed by me ... and Spring was on its way...

When you find yourself in the midst of life’s many ‘storms’... remind yourself... Just WHO YOU GOD IS... And WHAT YOUR PURPOSE on this earth is...

Remember... He always knows that we are sometimes scared... It is our responsibility to TRUST and have FAITH that He will not allow anything to harm us... unless it is HE ORDAINS IT...

My favorite passage is: Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

*** What these words mean to me is that even in my darkest hours, I must trust God to get me through it. Even when I am depressed and feeling afraid... I must trust that He knows what is best for my life.

So what is your ‘storm’ today? What are you afraid of? Where will you turn as your riding the waves of fear, shame, depression, or anger?

The answer is and always will be... Turn to God... Seek the Lord Jesus Christ... And trust He’s got your back!
